I was more of a dancer back then, I did choreography, but I was nothing like Powerline. Tevin Campbell: Yeah, they just had me do some dance moves and I doubt if they based any of Powerline’s dance moves off of me. What else went into the recording process and creating the character? Josh Weiss: You touched on the green screen earlier. It was up in the Hills at the producer’s house, so it was really cool and laid back … It was good times. We did both songs two separate days and it was just a lot of fun. I remember the recording sessions really clearly.

No one told me how to sing it, but I came in and did my thing. Tevin Campbell: Yeah, it was already written and they asked me to just sing it. Josh Weiss: Speaking of the music, did you have a hand at all in turning them into what they became, or it was just already written and they just asked you to sing it? I think they just kind of built around the songs, really and built the songs around Powerline. That’s pretty much all I remember about it … but I think mainly, they wanted me to sing those songs and then Powerline was just something they created, they didn’t really need me for. The only thing I really remember is being in the studio, recording the songs and going to the actual Disney Studios and them showing me the Goofy and I had to get in front of a green screen and do some stuff. How old was I? I was 19 or 20-something like that and so, I don’t really remember too much. Tevin Campbell: Well, I was so young, oh my god.
Josh Weiss: Can you start by giving me a brief rundown of how you got cast as Powerline in A Goofy Movie?
